Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plumber (Water Systems) to join a busy NHS estate in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a critical healthcare environment, supporting the maintenance and compliance of water systems across the estate.

The role is primarily based at an Acute Hospital, with occasional work across retained estate and mental health facilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on water systems

  • Undertake Legionella control tasks including:

    • Temperature monitoring

    • Shower head cleaning & disinfection

    • TMV servicing

    • Buffer vessel blow downs

  • Ensure compliance with ACoP L8, HTM04-01, and all relevant health & safety regulations

  • Maintain accurate records and update systems (e.g. Maximo or similar CAFM systems)

  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs with minimal supervision

  • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies to minimise disruption to services

  • Work safely using equipment such as ladders, MEWPs, and within confined spaces (training provided if required)


Requirements

  • NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Plumbing / Heating / Ventilation

  • Experience working on commercial or healthcare water systems

  • Knowledge of Legionella control and water hygiene standards

  • Ability to work independently and interpret technical drawings/instructions

  • Strong understanding of health & safety compliance

Desirable:

  • Previous NHS or healthcare environment experience

  • Legionella / TMV / disinfection training
