Senior Construction Project Manager - up to $180,000 plus 15-20% bonus, 401k, growing company with great staff retention, ESOP (employee owned)
Role can be based in Sudbury, MI, Palmer, MI or Hartford, Massachusetts.
Job Summary:
We are actively seeking a seasoned Construction Project Manager with specialized experience in bridge construction and transportation infrastructure. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead and deliver DOT-funded projects ranging from $10 million to $30 million+, with a strong preference for bridge structure experience (rehab, replacement, new builds), though candidates with a heavy highway background will also be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all phases of bridge and infrastructure construction projects, from pre-construction to final acceptance, ensuring alignment with DOT standards and timelines.
- Lead field operations, subcontractor coordination, and inspection oversight on bridge structures, including foundations, substructures, superstructures, and associated roadway work.
- Maintain rigorous project controls for scope, schedule, budget, and quality-especially for federally and state-funded DOT projects.
- Oversee critical construction milestones such as falsework erection, concrete placement, girder setting, and staged traffic control.
- Ensure all work meets design specifications, engineering standards, environmental permitting, and safety compliance (OSHA/DOT).
- Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams (designers, inspectors, contractors, agencies) to manage construction logistics and minimize disruptions.
- Prepare and submit RFIs, submittals, daily reports, change orders, and pay estimates in accordance with DOT protocols.
- Conduct constructability reviews, risk mitigation planning, and project forecasting.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, DOT representatives, utility providers, and local stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of construction project management experience, with 3+ years focused on bridge structures (rehabilitation or new construction).
- Strong familiarity with DOT specifications, AASHTO standards, and public procurement processes.
- Demonstrated ability to manage transportation projects valued at $10M to $30M or more.
- Working knowledge of bridge components, methods (cast-in-place, precast, steel girder, post-tensioning, etc.), and temporary works.
- Proficient with PM and construction tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, and Procore.
- PE, PMP, or CCM certification is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication, field coordination, and leadership skills.
